The CERN Theoretical Physics Department (CERN-TH) is seeking to fill several permanent research staff positions. We are looking for outstanding researchers with internationally recognised leadership in theoretical particle physics. The positions are devoted to full-time research. CERN-TH has substantial stable research funding at its disposal, systematically attracts a large number of top theorists in a range of positions, and has an active programme of visiting scientists and topical workshops.

Candidates can express their interest by applying online. Providing a CV or letters of recommendation is not mandatory, since the Search Committee will review publicly available information about their work and impact in the field independently.

Nominations are also strongly encouraged and can be submitted via th.ic.staffsearch@cern.ch. All nominations will be followed up directly with the nominees, inviting them to express their interest and gather their consent to be considered in the selection process.

All information will be treated in strictest confidence. For any enquiry regarding the positions, you may contact th.ic.staffsearch@cern.ch. The deadline for applications and nominations is 25 March 2019.

Diversity has been an integral part of CERN’s mission since its foundation and is an established value of the Organization. Employing a diverse workforce is central to its success.

Statement

The CERN Theory Department is committed to creating an inclusive scientific environment in which everyone has the same opportunities, and people are evaluated only by their individual talent. We strongly support the principles of respect, tolerance and equality in which we firmly believe. These principles define the spirit of CERN, guiding our work and mutual relationships. We do not tolerate any violation of these principles in our working environment. We actively promote diversity in all its forms as a value that enriches our community and helps it thrive. The ideals and ethical values that inspire the Theory Department are fully in line with the mission and fundamental principles of CERN.
